Troop 707 is based in Houston, Tx and is chartered by the North Shore Rotary Club in Raven District of the Sam Houston Area Council. The troop has been around for 20 years, since 1988, and is getting ready to celebrate it's birthday again in February when we recharter. Our goal is to help young boys grow into responsible young men by providing them with the opportunities to advance, grow, mature, and lead. We are committed to the development and advancement of Scouts through the rank of Eagle.
Troop meetings take place every Monday night from 7:00pm until 8:00pm at the Holy Trinity Church. Troop meetings consist of patrol activities, troop instruction and practice of skills for rank advancement. Games, fun merit badge classes, and preparation for upcoming outings also take place during our weekly meetings.
Community service is an integral part of the Boy Scout program. Troop 707 Scouts perform community service projects throughout the year, such as volunteering at the annual North Shore Rotary Fish-Fry and more. Assisting thier fellow scouters with Eagle Scout service projects is another way that Scouts provide service to the community. Outings are activities that can be one day, overnight or over several nights. These activities, typically done on weekends, take place outside of the normal troop meetings. These include hikes, bike trips, campouts, trips to special sites (such as the Battleship Texas), canoeing, rock climbing, etc. Our outings are varied and frequent; at least once a month. Scouts learn many skills on these trips and have experiences that they will remember forever.
Patrol Leader Conference meetings are held after troop elections every six months, and any additional times that're deemed necessary by the Scoutmaster. During these meetings, Patrol Leaders and other troop members who wish to attened plan the troop's meetings and activities while aligning them with the upcoming scouting events. Troop elections for new positions are held every six months.
